Lassa is of AQR has some fantastic writing and research out about trend following building on the idea that ideas are number one. I want to read an excerpt from Lassa's work, an excerpt where he is going back and forth with David Harding of Wynton Capital. He started a trend following firm in the late 1990s with $5 million under management and today is somewhere around $30 billion under management. You just don't sit down and date a mind. There has to be an economic foundation behind why this particular procedure, this particular group of rules works.
