Dr. Du Bois's Brownie Book
Dr. Du Bois had a children's magazine that he established in 1920 which was designed to educate children about different events taking place in the United States and the black world as it related to black people. The Tulsa race riot was just one of many horrific race riots and massacres that took place in the post-war period. It was devastating in terms of the scope and scale of the violence, the very prosperous Greenwood community of Tulsa was literally burned to the ground. So the brownie book was very important and Du Bois even though it only lasted for a year, looked back at the Brownie Book as one of his most important accomplishments.
