i think a lot of companies don't realize that if all you care about is money, you actually start losing money. You have people who could be superproductive, and they're not because you don't empower them to be. i was just reading another article this morning about something at amazon that employees call frupidity - which is where they're frugal to the point of being stupid. And it's just like the simple perks of good company gives you are kind of worth a lot.
