The Future of Guidelines for the Management of Bowel Blood Heart Disease

The American and European guidelines are consistent for most recommendations, but present some differences that are generally minor. The future is to transition from recommendation rooted primarily on the severity of the valve lesion to stitching or phenotyping the disease in a given patient. Given that the diagnostic and therapeutic modalities and evidence for intervention are evolving rapidly, an update of the guidelines every five or six years is suboptimal.
