mon jenkins: I think we've got to find a way of not having another ireland in scotland or in wales. Ireland's departure from the united kingdom as an absolute tragedy. Britain is the only country in europe which, in the twentieth century, as broken up and now appears to be about to break up again. It is shocking to me that a developed country like britain cannot make peace with its subordinate groups. That has to lie ine some form of devolution which enables these people to feel that they have autonomy within their own terms and within their own borders.
