The Opt-in Act Would Provide Consumers With a Choice
The law would be the broadest in this country and it would have a major impact. A coalition of civil liberties and privacy groups that are supporting this legislation, thinking that it could be a test case for broader nationwide legislation. But there's pretty broad opposition as well. The prognosis is quite positive given the makeup of the Massachusetts legislature; they're dominated by Democrats.
