The end of the English major is an article by former Slatester, current New Yorker writer and friend of podcast Nathan Heller. It's going to be in the March 6th print edition of the New Yorker, but it's online now. And he just goes way beyond the usual level of hand-wringing that you often hear in coverage of academic issues. So there is a lot of sadness and wistfulness there, but some really hard thinking about what it means to think about human history and human culture at a higher education level in 2023.
