The two things that have actually helped us are games, like doing a sort of almost a red light green light. He loves to hold the rainbow rope when the preschoolers all go out for a while and look like a tiny little chain gang. And so something that might be in between, like is it a belt, a tie, a bathrobe loop, like something that they can hold together. Those are cars, that's not safe. The sidewalk is safe. This is why we stay here. Where do you see that's safe? But I think you're right in that the leash might solve the immediate problem, but it doesn't actually build the long term solution.
