It really feels as if the whipping operation the party is just not up to scrath. Some of the 20 19 in take tories told me they haven't even got a fun call from the whips office. If you don't know how much trouble you're in, then that's a very worrying thing. There's something not quite tory about boris johnson. And now, potentially, he doesn't seem to know how to win elections in safe tory seats. That's a dangerous brew for any prime minister.
