There's just too many examples of companies that were successful early on and they looked terrible, and they figured it out later. Once you start making millions of dollars a year and you can hire a design team, you can't really go the other way. And so anyways, to answer your question, i don't think there's a correct answer, except to say maybe the brand isn't as important as designers would like to think at the very beginning.
