It has been over a decade now since Pep Guardiola won the Champions League. The problem with Guardiola is that he has been set up as, with good reason, the defining manager of his generation. But while the trophies started pouring at Manchester City, the Champions League remained elusive. He crashed out at the quarter-final stage each of the next three seasons. And before taking the team to the precipice once more in Porto, where he somehow conspired to lose to a much weaker Chelsea team.
