I was incredibly fortuitous. I had a real growth spurt when I was quite young, which meant that I was taller than everybody else. But it was the parents that were the... I mean, kids are just mean, right? So when you get called any epithet in a school yard, they're just named calling. My mother had this really interesting approach to everything. She goes, you're never going to meet an intelligent racist. You're bright. Don't worry about it. Just keep it simple.
