What's the Age Gap Between Wordsworth and Coleridge?
I'm intrigued by those relationships that you say were really artistically important. So Wordsworth and Coleridge meet because Coleridge sort of wants to meet Wordsworth. Shelley and Byron, who are the other kind of, I guess, great romantic friendship pair, come together partly because Shelley wants to meet Byron. They're also linked in very, very complicated ways by the relationship that Byron has with Mary Shelley steps in artistic Clare Claremont. And they're drawn into as a result of circumstance, which both enable productive conversation about art but create real friction.
