The Benefits of Following the Right Process
Even following the optimal solution does not guarantee that you're going to get the optimal result every time. What it can offer you is in this case the best probability of getting the best outcome. And there's something I think very consoling about having a mathematical or a computational understanding of the form of the problem, which is that it enables you to be confident even when you don't get the result that you want.
