The Mughal emperor's both Jahangir and his father, Akbar, are very much conscious of Portuguese presence. Jesuits priests have been sent by the Catholic governor of Goa to Akbar's court. Rode has tried to attract their attention by bringing gifts, and I found this such an interesting part of your book. Can you tell us a bit about what he's brought along and the reception it has?
