The Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, Will Respond to President Biden's Speech Tonight
For the very first time, we will see House Speaker Kevin McCarthy sitting behind President Biden in this setting. He gave a pre-bottle of sorts yesterday on one of the major issues that the two men have already clashed on. Even McCarthy saying in a speech that it would be irresponsible to raise the debt ceiling without getting in return some major spending cuts. But again, just a reminder for the entirety of the speech of the very different political environment that the president is facing over the next two years compared to the last two years.
