I took great joy in reading this book, because to my early modern mind, it's very much an early modern project. And I know from my own personal bitter experience, when having been categorized as a historian of ideas, you didn't fit into history departments who thought it was all too conceptual. So for example, in the book I only say a little bit about Russian philosophy right at the end. And I feel that in some sense that's a shame, but really I wasn't helped with that.
