Dfrankia was a political territory that covered most of western continental europe during the early viking age. The region stretched from brittany in the west to the balkans in the east, and would easily accommodate both britain and ireland several times over. By the mid eighth century this growing kingdom was under the controla dynasty known as the carolinians. First member of this family to assume the frankish kingship formerly was called pippin.
