The most vocal objections to commemoration and all of that are actually political. There are radicals who view Waterloo as a conservative victory and nothing to celebrate. Part of that is that Waterloo is fundamentally one of the last times we see an old form of commemoration and celebration. We should be marking sacrifice rather than massive military parties in a way.
