The New Status in the Twenty-First Century
In the seventeenth century and onwards, spangles could be used in non precious materials. By the twentieth century, we see this notion of sparkle taking on a sort of new status,. And becoming related to celebrity. We actually find that the language o sparkle is written into the way we talk about stardem. Is literally there in stardem, or, you know, tinsel town - how we would talk about hollywood. So it becomes this real kind of marke of a new kind of luxury, a new type of status.
