The Great Depression - What Was It Like?
At the bottom of the great depression, that's late 32, early 33, we think the unemployment rate was about 25 %. That's about 13 million workers ere unemployed just about the time that franklin roosevelt took office. To day, over 50% of married women are employed for wages in the market place. So that to day, a 25 percent nemployment rate would not sarily translate into a comparable percentage of households that had no employed member.
