The Spanish American War and Its Importance
The struggle for Cuban independence from Spain had been going on in a very interesting dynamic ways since 1868. Cubans believe and some of the leaders who were still fighting in 1898 believed that they were on the verge of victory, says John Defterios. The war was waged by an army that is a multiracial army in which many of the members are formerly enslaved people so it's a fascinating movement in its own right he adds.
