Vitamin C 500 milligrams daily for 50 days can be given in the setting of distal radius fractures treated conservatively. Keep in mind that vitamin C has also been shown to decrease the incidence of complex regional pain syndrome type 1 following foot and ankle surgery. Other preventative measures include avoiding tight dressings and prolonged immobilization.
