Khrushchev and Kennedy - The Bay of Pigs Invasion
Krushchev came to see Kennedy as weak. This was based on the Bay of Pigs invasion and their summit in Vienna. JFK had been warned not to get into ideological debates with Khrushchev. But he ignored that advice and got into such a debate, which made him feel bullied. The failed attack set the stage for the Cold War to enter its hottest period yet.
