The Supreme Court's Decision in Ferguson
Homer Plessy refused to vacate his seat on a train in 1890. He was trying to test whether Louisiana's separate car act of 1890 was constitutional. In 1896, the US Supreme Court ruled that there is nothing inherently unconstitutional about segregation so long as things are equal.
