John of Gaunt - The Red Prince
John of gaunt was born whilst a philip propene. His mother was used as collateral for a large loan that edward the third was given by flemish merchants to support him in the war. She stayed heavily pregnant with john at the abbey of saint baron ghent, whilst a edward sailed back to england too. Later in his life, he was the second duke of lancaster. And it is said historically that the red rose of lancasters was grown in the gardens of the savoy palace, which was of gaunt's palace.
