Louis XVI and Marianne Tournette have not come off well in the history books. Is that unfair? Were they really, as horrendous as legend would have us believe? Well, it's true. She didn't say, let them eat cake. That's a myth. But she did overspend terribly. And her reputation went down so badly. People actually genuinely liked Louis the 16th. He was quite a benevolent fella.
