The Importance of Education in the Marriage Market
In India, most house, most in families educate their girls for the marriage market. So it is to say that having higher levels of education secures you an entry into a better or an equally matched household. And there's also some recent evidence by this researcher called the bad heart, who finds that well education does give you a leg up in the managed market. But if as a prospective bride you indicate that you want to work and you want to stay employed or you want to start being employed after marriage, that can act as a penalty. If they're marrying that suture obviously to be pressure within the family to not go back out and work even if they wanted to.
