Could the british be accused of complacency? They did, i think, believe that they'd be able to knock the boors over very easily. Thought the boers were not really capable of fighting. So they certainly underestimated the boers. The boers were people who lived on farms. They knew the landscape, the topography. And they also were able to source extremely good guns,. a, because they were obviously people who shot for the hunt and so forth. It took e one of the most formidable imperial power in the world, so long to bring its advantages in terms of men and material included, i our armaments, to bear against the Boers.
