James spollin is a name that came like a bolt from the blue. He had not figured to any significant extent in the initial phase of the inquiry. The police investigation began forty eight hours after the death of george little. It was still carrying on in february the following year, so almost four months later. There were still sort of sporadic surveillance reports coming in in the late spring of 18 57. And then, from nowhere, a woman came forward in june 18 57 and said that her husband was the murderer, and that she could prove it.
