The World Cup in 1966
The 1966 World Cup was the first in which matches were broadcast by satellite to parts of continental Europe but also Mexico. In terms of marketing and the aspects linked to that you had the arrival of one of the first World Cup mascots - World Cup Willie. The glamour associated with the Brazilian team in their bright bright kits is an important aspect of it. And a third really significant factor is that they resonated it kind of links it in a way to color and race. I think the Brazilian side of 1970 was kind of global in that sense in a way that no World Cup winning side before was.
