Is There Something of a Missed Opportunity for Laxon?
Christopher Laxon couldn't have picked the worst time to get COVID. It means that Nicola Willis has been front and center in the news. I think it was right to accept Stuart Nash's resignation from the police portfolio. If Minister Hipkins doesn't sack Mr Nash, what he's effectively saying is that any minister is allowed to interfere in the police or judicial decisions. And that's actually an unacceptable standard. But it only sparks the rumours further that she is probably a better bet for national leadership.
