The Story of the Burnt Manuscript
In 17 31, there was no other copy of the berwulf man script. It's considered the great gem of anglo saxon literature. The british library still holds er boxes of these fragments which it has been unable to catalogue. There is ther a, a kind of crumbs of hope in the story, in the sense that around 50 years laterer, when the british museum was created.
