The Risk of Perforation of Anterior Cortex During Surgery With a Long Cephalometularinale

A common contraindication for the use of a DHS is an unstable fracture pattern such as those associated with lateral wall combination. Tip to apex distance exceeding 25 mm has also been shown to increase the risk of screw cutout and loss of reduction. Bull Hofner at all present a review of the outcomes for 69 patients with intertrochanteric hip fractures treated with 135 degree 2-hole DHS. There were no cases of cutout when the TAD was less than 25 mm. A mismatch of curvature between the nail and a posterior starting point are both risk factors for anterior cortex perforation during surgical treatment with a long cephalometularinale.
