Reorienting Periacetabular Osteotomy for Adult Hip Dysplasia
Early diagnosis of adult hip dysplasia in patients with maintained, or ticular cartilage can benefit from reorienting periacetabular osteotomy. The procedure increases the acetabular coverage of the femoral head which normalizes contact stresses and has been shown to preserve the hip. These increased contact stresses cause degenerative labral disease, cartilage delamination, and progressive degenerative changes that lead ultimately to osteoarthritis.
