The Positive Impact of the CIA's Work on the US
The issue of torture became toxic, especially because there was significant effort to cover it up. Torture itself ceased to exist when Obama became president and his pick as the director of the CIA, John Brennan, didn't want to pursue those practices anymore. That is not to say that Obama was overtaken by a tide of morality because the CIA still engaged in practices of which many people have disapproved. The number of assassinations conducted by this method escalated dramatically under President Obama.
