Tiger parenting is also often blamed for the high rates of suicide in eastern asia. Western parents are concerned about their children's psyches. Chinese parents are not. They assume that children are strong and not fragile, and as a result, they behave very differently. Some chinese mothers say to their daughters: hey, fatty, loosem wait. By contrast, western parents typically tiptoe around the issue, talking in terms of health and never mentioning the word fat.
