The SAS's First Mission

SAS stands for special air service. What made the SAS special? I suppose there's two ways of looking at this. The first mission was actually a raid on a British airfield called Heliopolis, whilst they were still training. And that led to the first real raid known as Operation Squatter - against two Axis-held airfields.
