The Beginning of Mass Tourism
When did these forms of tourism expand and become accessible to more people? Well I've started my book in 1815 which is the year of the Battle of Waterloo. There's an expanding middle class, there's new steam packet travel. In a very short time there will be railways, the first railway is 1831 so we're really getting into the industrial age when travel is going to be made much easier for anyone with enough money.
