Throughout history, the funeral procession tended to comprise members of the late monarch's households. Women were very much in evidence during the funeral procession of queen elizabeth. They had accompanied her body from richmond palace where she died to whitehall where she lay in state. And it was said that as el Elizabeth's coffin passed by the crowds, divers of the beholders fell a weeping, especially the women.
