Social Responsibility in the Business World

Peter Gcline: I'm very interested, like a lot of folks, on this recent turn towards social responsibility within the business world. My own position is sort of close to the position famously articulated by Milton Friedman in a 1970 New York Times article claiming that the social responsibility of business is to make profits. He says he thinks there's some dynamics associated with how companies are managed which have led them to embrace a mission that may not be well suited for their capabilities.
