Eugene tells police that cherise's gun had jammed during a recent trip they'd taken to the shooting range together, and he wasn't sure if she consistently checked to make sure the safety was on. He also implies to the detective that cherise was kind of accident prone, saying she was qote, not clumsy, but she had her moments. Right now, all of what he said could make an accident more plausible. But of course, there are still a lot of questions surrounding eugene. His time line is way off. He has no solid alibi, and he carried an affair on for years behind his wife's back.
