The Importance of Deliberate Practice
The key idea of deliberate practice is that you're trying to do something that you can't do well. And in terms of making these achievements we are constantly up against homeostasis and breaking through those boundaries is part of deliberate practice. There's some great examples and I think chess becomes a fantastic example and one aspect of deliberate practice so part of the understanding is chunking or even the phrase you know a mental representation. The best chess players it's not about just looking at all the individual pieces on the boards they're thinking in patterns they've developed over time.
