It didn't do anything, it did not have an appreciable positive impact outside of the fact that gun violence has been on the decline for several decades from the 90s forward recent spike lately with crime going up. But you know, to bring back the assault weapons ban is just as simply an ideological talking point that doesn't have any real impact on real world violence.
