How Did You Go From Probability to Statistics?

When you're in grad school out here at berkeley, you did a bit of gamblingdon the nba games. And when you encountered sort of how people were using statistics and how statisticians talked about probability, i think you found it a little bit unusual to what you had learned as a probability theorist. What i think you now is really kind of struck by is that in all that probability theory, you're always given the probabilities from the start. So if you want to know, what's the probability that someone's going to live for ten years, or what's the probabilty theres can be a major earthquake,  you don't have a mathematical way of assigning that
