In 1820, he moved to Newport, Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati. There John devoted himself completely to promoting the hollow earth theory. He toured the country giving speeches about this terrific news. His speaking fees and donations from supporters covered his travel and lecture expenses. This left the family in great debt.
