With the advent of ultrasound and being able to visualize the nerves, you can find that you can actually get very, very rapid onset with most local anesthetics. I remember seeing this study about intranural blocks, obviously not for the big trunks and stuff, but for things like superclaviculars. And because he was using a blunt needle, it wasn't a cutting needle. Again, probably not the technique you want to be doing when you're first starting out. But that kind of very much proving the point of speed of onset.
