The Battle of Malikov
What's killing men in this war is conditions, disease, malnutrition and hypothermia. So you've got exhausted sick troops in poor housing with inadequate rations and they're dying. Troops die of everything but battle is not the dominant thing that kills them. Those conditions do also spur some innovations. I was reading earlier this morning about the invention of the Port Vostove which I think came about because of the Crimean War. A Frenchman visited the troops and was shocked at the food being served up. We should certainly mention Alexis Sawyer - he's the chef at the Reform Club in London. He might be French but he's working for the British.
