Is There a National Data Privacy Law?
Lawmakers want to ban TikTok first, then figure out what framework should be for dealing with similarly situated apps. If I were an app that was similar to TikTok and not under the microscope in the same way, I would be watching this really carefully because it's totally possible that whatever decision is made about TikTok could later come to affect me. Why is Congress so focused on the TikTok issue when a national data privacy law can answer these questions?
