The Exile and Return of Christ

The one who is exiled comes back laden with the blessings of God. This pattern of exile and return ultimately provides a pattern for Christ himself because he speaks of his exodus that he's going to accomplish at Jerusalem. So what he does in his act of salvation for us, his death and resurrection are really an exile and a return. He cries from the cross, my God, why have you forsaken me? And his resurrection is a repatriation, is a bringing back a return.
